Laser Hair Removal in Orlando, FL

Having hair where you don’t want it is an embarrassing problem, and traditional options for hair removal are less than ideal. The Center for Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery offers an alternative to shaving and waxing — laser hair removal for men and women in Orlando, Orange County and Central Florida.

What is Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal is a procedure that relies on high-intensity light to destroy hair follicles. The laser works at a wavelength that is only absorbed by the hair, leaving all surrounding tissues intact. This approach to hair removal is much safer for you. Shaving irritates the skin and only cuts the hair at the skin level, leaving the hair in place to continue to grow. Waxing is a painful process that rips individual hairs out of the follicle, yet the follicle can still produce hair. Both options provide only short-term benefits.

What are the Benefits of Laser Hair Removal?

  • Quick treatment
  • Results in permanent hair reduction
  • No bumps, rashes or ingrown hairs
  • Effective on most skin and hair types

Am I a Candidate for Laser Hair Removal?

We have chosen the Cynosure ICON™ MaxR™ handpiece for our laser hair removal treatments due to the system’s flexibility in removing unwanted hair. It is effective for patients with most skin types, as well as most hair colors.

Common treatment areas are:

  • Upper Lip
  • Chin
  • Face
  • Neck
  • Areola
  • Underarms

What Happens During a Laser Hair Removal Treatment?

Six weeks prior to your laser hair removal treatment, you should stop plucking, waxing and threading the area to allow the hair to grow. You should shave the area just prior to your appointment. Avoid sunlight for at least one week before and one week after the procedure. The laser energy is administered in short bursts, and the sensation feels like a pinch on your skin.

How Many Laser Hair Removal Treatments Do I Need?

We recommend six treatments for best results, as this coincides with each stage of growth. The sessions should be scheduled four to six weeks apart. In most cases, the hair is permanently removed after six treatments.

How Much Does Laser Hair Removal Cost in Orlando, FL?

The cost of laser hair removal is based on the size of the treatment area and how many sessions are needed. A cosmetic quote will be provided after your consultation, as well as our financing options through CareCredit®. We also accept payment by cash, check and credit card.
