Chin Implants
in Orlando, FL

A weak or receding chin can throw off the balance of facial features and detract from an otherwise attractive face. Chin augmentation surgically enhances the size and projection of the chin to create better facial proportion and balance. Chin implants are popular among both men and women looking to sculpt a stronger, more defined jawline and profile. Located in Orlando, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Kendall Peters offers chin implant procedures for patients throughout Central Florida.

What are Chin Implants?

Chin implants, also called chin augmentation, enhance the size and projection of the chin using a solid silicone implant. The implant strengthens the jawline and provides more definition to a small, recessed, or weak chin. Chin implants come in different shapes and sizes to complement the patient's facial structure. They can make the facial profile more proportionate and attractive. Chin implants can be performed alone or in conjunction with other procedures such as rhinoplasty or neck lift.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Chin Augmentation Procedure Like?

Chin implant surgery is performed using general anesthesia depending on whether it is done alone or combined with other procedures. The surgery generally takes 60 minutes. Dr. Peters typically makes a small incision inside the mouth to insert the customized chin implant. The implant is secured into position and the incision closed with sutures. A small inconspicuous incision under the chin ensures that there is no visible scarring from the chin augmentation procedure.

What is Recovery Like After Chin Implant Surgery?

Following chin implant surgery, patients can expect moderate swelling and bruising in the chin, jaw, and neck areas, which typically reaches its peak around the third day post-surgery and gradually diminishes over the course of one to two weeks. Discomfort is also a common experience during the initial days. Additionally, some parts of the chin, lips, or mouth may remain numb for a few weeks as the nerves heal, gradually returning to normal. Patients are advised to maintain a soft food diet during the first week to prevent any impact on the implant's position due to chewing. Light physical activity can be resumed after one week, but strenuous exercise should be postponed for at least two to three weeks. Typically, individuals can return to work or school within 7-10 days following the surgery. Patients will notice an immediate difference in their chin projection after the surgery, but the final results will become increasingly evident over the next 2-3 months as any remaining swelling dissipates.

How Long Do Chin Implants Last?

Chin implant results are designed to be permanent. The silicone or plastic chin implant itself will typically last a lifetime in most patients. However, patients should understand that there are certain factors that can impact the results of your chin augmentation over time. These include aging, changes in weight, and an unlikely shifting of or damage to your chin implant. Fortunately, most patients can expect their chin implant to last for many years. Periodic maintenance via injections, non-surgical skin tightening or a minor revision surgery can help maintain the aesthetic improvements.

How Much Does a Chin Implant Cost in Orlando, FL?

The cost of your chin implant will vary depending on the type of implant selected and various factors that are unique to each patient. Chin augmentation is usually considered an elective procedure, which means that patients will be responsible for the full cost of their chin implant out-of-pocket. To help make chin augmentation affordable to all patients, the Center for Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery offers affordable financing via CareCredit®. Payments are accepted in the form of cash, personal checks, and credit cards.
