Gynecomastia (Male Breast Reduction) in Orlando, FL

Within the last several years, body contouring procedures have become increasingly popular among men, especially surgical correction of a condition called gynecomastia, or overdevelopment of the male breast and fatty tissue. This condition is treatable, and Dr. Peters will work with you to personalize the procedure for your needs and aesthetic goals.

What is Gynecomastia?

Gynecomastia is an overproduction of both male breast tissue and fatty tissue, resulting in contour irregularities of the male chest. This can be corrected by combining liposuction with direct excision of the excess tissue.

How is Gynecomastia Treated?

At CPRS, a special form of liposuction called Vaser® liposuction is used to perform this procedure. Vaser® liposuction combines ultrasound with fat removal, which allows for maximal skin contraction during the recovery phase. The ultrasound technique separates the fatty tissue from the surrounding tissues, allowing the fat to be more efficiently removed in a less traumatic way. Additionally, the heat that the ultrasound device emits leads to better skin contraction in comparison to traditional liposuction.

Once the fatty tissue has been removed, the remaining breast tissue is also removed by directly excising it using a very discreet incision that is hidden within the areola. This minimally invasive technique results in a noticeable aesthetic improvement of the male chest.

What are the Benefits of Gynecomastia Surgery?

There are numerous benefits to male breast reduction surgery, including:

  • Increased confidence and self-esteem
  • Ability to remove a shirt outside
  • Wearing more fashionable, tight clothing
  • Increased masculine appearance
  • Confidence to participate in recreational activities

What is Gynecomastia Recovery Like?

Following the procedure, a special compression vest is worn for 6 weeks. Most people are able to return to their normal daily activities after 1-2 weeks and may return to exercise after 4 weeks.
