During a deep peel – the strongest variety of chemical peel – a carbolic acid solution is typically applied to the skin of the target area. The solution is left to soak in through the epidermis and into the dermal layers, after which it is removed.
Following the deep chemical peel procedure, dead skin cells are sloughed away, erasing the imperfections. Over time, new skin grows; this new skin is pink, smooth, and fresh.
