Labiaplasty
in Orlando, FL

Enlarged or asymmetrical labia can cause physical discomfort, irritation, and self-consciousness that affects everyday life, exercise, and intimacy. Led by our board-certified plastic surgeon Kendall Peters, MD, FACS, the team here at the Center for Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery is proud to offer labiaplasty to women throughout Orange County and Central Florida who want relief from these concerns and a more comfortable, confident appearance.

What is Labiaplasty?

Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that reduces the size and reshapes the labia minora, the inner folds of skin of the female genitalia, so that they are more proportionate to the labia majora. Enlarged or elongated labia can develop as a result of genetics, childbirth, hormonal changes, or the natural aging process. Many women pursue labiaplasty for functional reasons, such as chronic irritation, tugging, or discomfort during exercise, intercourse, or while wearing certain clothing, while others are primarily seeking a more aesthetically balanced appearance.

Benefits of Labiaplasty

  • Relief from chafing, tugging, and irritation caused by excess labial tissue
  • Greater comfort during exercise, intimacy, and daily activities
  • A more proportionate and symmetrical appearance
  • Increased confidence in fitted clothing, swimwear, and intimate settings
  • Correction of asymmetry between the left and right labia

The Labiaplasty Procedure

Labiaplasty can be performed under local anesthesia with oral sedation or under general anesthesia, depending on the extent of correction needed and patient preference. Dr. Peters typically uses one of two established techniques: the trim technique, in which excess tissue along the edge of the labia minora is removed and the border is resewn, or the wedge technique, in which a pie-shaped section of tissue is removed from the thickest part of the labia to preserve the natural edge. In some cases, reduction of the clitoral hood is performed at the same time to achieve a more balanced result. Incisions are closed with dissolvable sutures, and the procedure is typically completed in about one to two hours on an outpatient basis.

Labiaplasty Recovery

Most patients experience some swelling, bruising, and tenderness in the first several days following surgery, which can be managed with prescribed or over-the-counter pain medication and ice packs. Loose, comfortable clothing is recommended during the initial healing period, and patients are generally advised to avoid strenuous exercise, tampon use, and submerging the area in water (such as baths, pools, or hot tubs) for several weeks. Most patients return to non-strenuous work and daily routines within a week, while sexual activity and vigorous exercise are typically postponed for six to eight weeks to allow the tissue to heal fully.

How Much Does Labiaplasty Cost in Orlando?

The cost of labiaplasty varies from patient to patient based on the surgical technique used, the extent of correction needed, and whether the procedure is combined with any other treatments. Because labiaplasty is generally considered an elective cosmetic procedure, it is typically not covered by insurance. Our practice accepts cash, personal checks, and credit cards, and we also offer convenient financing options through CareCredit®. Your exact cost will be discussed in detail following your consultation with Dr. Peters.

Is Labiaplasty Right for Me?

You may be a good candidate for labiaplasty if you:

  • Experience discomfort, irritation, or tugging caused by enlarged or elongated labia
  • Feel self-conscious about the size, shape, or symmetry of your labia
  • Are in good general health and have realistic expectations for your results
  • Have completed childbearing, as future pregnancies and vaginal deliveries can affect surgical results
