Laser skin resurfacing utilizes the latest in laser technology to tighten tissues, reduce wrinkles, decrease unwanted pigmentation, and revitalize skin. CPRS offers a variety of different laser treatments to accomplish these goals depending upon your skin type and individual needs. Some lasers are “ablative” and utilize CO2 technology to penetrate deep into the skin removing the unwanted outer layers of damaged skin. These treatments are the most effective at tightening skin, reducing wrinkles, and eliminating sun damaged tissue. Ablative laser treatments are performed under anesthesia in an operative setting for maximal comfort and safety. The recovery period can last several days to weeks as new collagen is formed and new layers of smooth, undamaged skin replace the damaged tissue.
For patients who cannot afford the down time associated with ablative lasers, CPRS offers non-ablative laser treatments which can improve skin tone and decrease sun damage with a quick recovery. The laser penetrates beneath the skin surface where it heats the tissue and initiates a healing process that stimulates collagen formation and forms new, healthy tissue. This smoothes and tightens skin and reduces fine lines and wrinkles. The skin may have a pink tone for about a week but generally patients can return to work and other activities without any recovery time. A series of treatments at 4-6 week intervals is usually required to achieve the desired result. Treatments can be directed to most areas of the body including face, chest, arms and hands. |
