Blepharoplasty is the removal or repositioning of excess skin and fat of the upper and lower eyelids. This may be done in conjunction with the facelift or by itself. Age, sun exposure, and hereditary factors all contribute to a wrinkles, puffiness, and deep lines around the eyes. Blepharoplasty greatly improves unwanted physical attributes that make you look tired or aged-- such as loose, sagging folds of skin on the upper eyelids, laxity of the lower eyelids, and bags under the eyes. Incisions are made in the natural creases in the upper and lower lids and are very well hidden once healed. In certain situations, redundancy of upper eyelid tissue may adversely affect vision. This can be surgically corrected with blepharoplasty.
